The 2021 American Gold Eagle release from the United States Mint included two versions of the coin in the BU and Proof series. The Type 1 release early in the production cycle continued with the use of Miley Busiek’s reverse design from 1986. In mid-2021, the US Mint unveiled its new reverse design for the Gold Eagle from Jennie Norris. Today, certified-perfect 2021 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The all-new bald eagle design from the United States Mint debuted in mid-2021 as the mint transitioned away from striking Type 1 coins. The Type 1 coins were issued at first in 2021 because dies for the new Type 2 design were not ready for use in coining presses at the time that 2021 production started. By July 2021, the US Mint had successfully made the transition to the new designs.
All of these 2021 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins are available to you in perfect condition. Coins with a Mint State 70 certification are considered perfect specimens with full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws present. The Early Release label that comes with the coin indicates it was received for grading by the NGC within 30 days of its release from the US Mint.
On the obverse of 2021 American Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins is a depiction of Lady Liberty. This effigy of Liberty captures her full-length figure in front-facing relief as she walks toward the viewer holding up a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Sun rays frame her figure from behind as a ring of 50 stars encircles the design element.
The reverse side of 2021 1/4 oz Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins comes with the all-new bald eagle design. Created by Jennie Norris, this left-profile image of the bird’s head captures the plumage of the bird in great detail while also focusing on its other impressive features, such as its piercing gaze and the powerful hook in its beak.
