The Lunar Series III collection from the Perth Mint picks up where other series at the Western Australia-based mint left off. Debuting in 2020, the Lunar Series III collection starts once again with the first year of 12 in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Following the popular first release of the collection, the new Lunar Series III program now moves on to the Year of the Ox. Today, 2021 1/20 oz Australian Gold Lunar Ox Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Lunar Series III is, as the name suggests, the third lunar-themed design collection from the Perth Mint. The Perth Mint introduced the concept of lunar-themed designs in 1996 with its Lunar Series I collection. That collection was available from 1996 to 2007 and was immediately followed by the Lunar Series II program from 2008 to 2019. Each of these collections had unique images for each of the 12 animals in the Zodiac. The Lunar Series III collection is no different with new designs for the third run through the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
All of the 2021 1/20 oz Australian Gold Lunar Ox Coins available to you in this product listing come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins available here come individually inside of protective acrylic capsules or inside of sealed rolls of 20 gold coins. The Perth Mint uses an unlimited mintage in this weight that indicates the mint will strike the coins to meet demand through the introduction of the 2022 coin designs.
Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverse face of 2021 Australian Gold Lunar Ox Coins. This right-profile bust of the Queen is the sixth-generation effigy of Elizabeth II to feature on Australian coins. With her shoulders and neckline available in the portrait design, this is the first design since 1966 on Australian coins to feature the neckline and shoulders of the Queen in a coin portrait.
An adult ox is shown in the reverse design of the 2021 1/20 oz Australian Gold Lunar Ox Coins. The design featured here comes from Ing Ing Jong. The design concept includes a lone adult, bull ox with its powerful frame and sharp horns captured in intricate detail.
