The Lunar Series III collection at the Perth Mint debuted in 2020 after the conclusion of a second successful lunar series in 2019. The Perth Mint has been issuing full 12-coin series focusing on the animals of the Zodiac since 1996 when it introduced the Lunar Series I collection. Each series brings with it unique designs for each of the 12 animals on the lunar calendar and features new designs for each series across Lunar Series I, II, and III releases.
All of the 2021 1/2 oz Australian Silver Lunar Ox Coins available to you in this product listing are available to purchase individually inside of acrylic capsules or inside of boxes with 100 silver coins included. The coins are all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
The Year of the Ox last occurred in 2009 and comes around again in 2021. The Ox is second in the lunar calendar cycle behind the mouse and is one of the largest animals in the Zodiac. When people look to represent something large, the ox is often the animal used in those depictions.
On the obverse side of 2021 1/2 oz Australian Silver Lunar Ox Coins is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This sixth-generation bust of the Queen was created in July 2015 by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint of England. It debuted on most Australian coins starting in 2019 and was delayed until 2020 and the launch of the Lunar Series III collection for lunar-themed coins from the mint.
The reverse face of the 2021 Australian Silver Lunar Ox Coins debuts a new image of the ox. In this design, there is an adult ox with its young calf under the branch of a cherry blossom as a quiet farming village is featured in the background.
