In 2020, Geiger Edelmetalle introduced the first-ever Noah’s Ark Gold Coin for the Republic of Armenian. After nearly a decade of production as a silver-only series, the German mint introduced four weights in a new Armenian Noah’s Ark Gold Series. Each of the 2021 1/2 oz Armenian Noah’s Ark Gold Coins available here comes brilliantly packaged by Geiger Edelmetalle. All coins in this series are packaged inside of sealed security capsules that can only be opened by destruction. The security capsule comes with a Certificate of Authenticity that features sequential numbering for each individual coin as a part of its release. In the case of 1/2 oz gold coins, that sequential numbering goes up to the maximum of 25,000 coins. All of the coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
The Armenian Noah’s Ark Series is one of the only major bullion coins in the world with Christian design themes on one side or the other. The only other major coin with Christian symbolism is the Ukrainian Archangel coin with the effigy of the Archangel Michael. The Armenian Noah’s Ark Series does stand out as the only series with a design theme based directly on a biblical story.
The obverse side of 2021 1/2 oz Armenian Noah’s Ark Gold Coins comes with a depiction of the Armenian coat of arms. The national coat of arms for Armenia is based on imagery from both national symbols from the Soviet era in the region and symbols that date back to Armenian kingdoms ruling the area before the birth of Christ. The seal includes a lion and eagle supporting a quartered shield.
On the reverse field of the 2021 Armenian Noah’s Ark Gold Coin is a vision of Noah’s Ark. This design depicts the ark floating on the floodwaters as the biblical rains have subsided and the sun begins to rise. As the ark floats along, a dove flies toward the ark in the foreground with an olive branch in its talons. This branch symbolizes that somewhere on the Earth the water level has dropped enough that dry land is once again accessible.
