American gold coining resumed in 1986 with the debut of the American Gold Eagles. The official gold bullion coins of the United States, the Gold Eagles are available annually in Brilliant Uncirculated, Proof, and Burnished versions. The 1/2 oz gold coin is available only in the BU and Proof versions. Today, 2021 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in perfect condition are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The United States Mint struck and released gold coins into circulation beginning in 1794, continuing to do so across five different collections through 1933. After 1933, no more gold coins were produced by the US Mint. The introduction of the Gold Eagle marked the resumption of gold coining in the US after a 53-year hiatus.
All of these 2021 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available with perfect certifications from the NGC. A Mint State 70 coin has full, original mint luster and comes with no detracting flaws of any kind on the designs or background fields. Also included within the slab is the Early Release label. A coin with this designation was received by the NGC within 30 days of the original release date from the US Mint.
Obverse designs on the 2021 American Gold Eagle Coin include a historic image of Lady Liberty. The design found here was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The design focuses on Liberty in front-facing relief at the center of the design field. She is walking forward with a large torch held out in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. With the US Capitol Building near her feet and rays of sunshine behind her figure, the entire design element is encircled by a ring of 50 stars. There is one star for each US state.
Reverse imagery on the 2021 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin features a family of American bald eagles. This work of art was created for the series in 1986 by Miley Busiek and shows a male eagle soaring above the nest as a female eagle shelters a young hatchling within the nest. This is the last date mark in which you’ll find this original design before it is replaced later in 2021 by a new American bald eagle design.
