On the obverse of the 2021 St. Helena Platinum Queen’s Virtues Victory Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait of the Queen found on this face of the coins comes from Raphael Maklouf and was created for the Royal Mint in 1985. The design was the third-generation portrait of Her Majesty to grace British coins. It was one of the more regal portraits of the Queen to ever appear on British coins and idealized her image as the monarch for England. She is set in right-profile relief and wears the George IV State Diadem Crown.
The reverse field of 2021 1/10 oz Platinum Queen’s Virtues Victory Coins comes with a depiction of the Winged Angel of Victory. She is set in left-profile relief with a palm branch in her left hand and her right hand raised up toward the heavens. There is an inscription on this face of VICTORY THROUGH HARMONY and the East India Company mark.
Formed through a Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth I in 1600, the East India Company was once an international powerhouse trading metals, fine cloth, and tea from India and the Far East to England and Europe. The East India Company reformed in the 21st century and now works with the Issuing Authority of St. Helena to produce bullion coins.
