The Zi:Sin Series continues in 2021 with its fifth release overall. Coming during the Year of the Bull, the Zi:Sin Taurus release from KOMSCO offers a unique Korean twist on the figures and associations with the Year of the Bull on the Chinese lunar calendar. Now, 2021 1/10 oz South Korean Zi:Sin Taurus Gold Medals are available to you for purchase online at JM Bullion.
Medal Highlights:
Introduced in 2017, the Zi:Sin Series of gold and silver medals is KOMSCO’s answer to Chinese lunar calendar designs offered by other mints around the world. These medals come in various options in silver, with 1 oz and 1/10 oz gold medals available as well.
Each new release in the series offers a different reverse design. These images are based on the 12 Guardians of Korean mythology, the warrior figures who are responsible for guarding the world against evil that might arise from any of the 12 directions.
Do ggae bi remains on the obverse side of 2021 South Korean Taurus Gold Medals. This depiction of Do ggae bi is new as of 2020 on many of KOMSCO’s medal collections. Though it looks similar to the original design used since 2016 in various collections, this image does have slight variations in the appearance of the grotesque beast. For example, the beast’s brow is more prominent than in past designs.
In the reverse design of the new 1/10 oz South Korean Zi:Sin Taurus Gold Medal, KOMSCO features the image of the figure known as Taurus. Associated with the Year of the Bull, Taurus is a mighty figure with a muscular frame and the imposing image of an angry bull incorporated into the armor on his left shoulder.
These 2021 1/10 oz South Korean Zi:Sin Taurus Gold Medals are available to you individually housed in blistercards. Each one has assay information on the back and the mintage in this release is limited to only 333 medals in total.
