The Proof American Silver Eagle Coin is available for the last time from the San Francisco Mint featuring the heraldic eagle design. In late 2019, the US Mint announced that the original reverse designs of the American Silver Eagle and American Gold Eagle would be replaced come 2021. Though the designs are not ready yet for production to start in 2021, the release of these distinctive S-Proof American Silver Eagles in 2020 will be the last from the San Francisco Mint with the original designs. Today, 2020-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Proof American Silver Eagle was first introduced in 1986 and released by the San Francisco Mint. The San Francisco Mint remained the official center of coining for the Proof Silver Eagle from 1986 to 1992, before the coining of the collectible proofs was moved to the Philadelphia Mint from 1993 to 2000. In 2001, the West Point Mint took over coining the Proof Silver Eagles. Since that time, the San Francisco Mint has provided supplemental coining of BU and Proof coins on a limited basis.
All of these 2020-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins are available to purchase with presentation displays from the United States Mint. The coins are housed inside of protective capsules and set inside of blue, satin-lined presentation case. All of these items ship together in a themed shipper.
On the obverse of the 2020-S Proof American Silver Eagle Coin is the iconic depiction of Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, you will see Liberty walking from right to left across the design field in this image.
The reverse field of 2020-S 1 oz Proof Silver Eagle Coins includes the modern version of the heraldic eagle of the United States. Modified in 1986 for this series by John Mercanti, the design showcases the American bald eagle in front-facing relief with the US national shield on its chest, arrows of war in one talon, and an olive branch of peace in the other talon.
This is your last chance to own the heraldic eagle reverse design on 2020 Proof American Silver Eagle Coins. The San Francisco Mint will not strike this design again with a new image coming in mid-2021.
