After more than a decade on the sidelines in the American Silver Eagle Series, the San Francisco Mint returned to operation in 2011. During surging demand for Silver Eagles amidst the Great Recession, the US Mint enlisted the help of the San Francisco Mint for supplemental coining to meet demand for the BU specimens. This need has arisen time and again during the series, with 2020 representing one of the highest times of need in the program’s history. Right now, 2020 (S) 1 oz American Silver Eagle coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion in perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2020 (S) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin in this product listing is available with a perfect certification. Mint State 70 coins are those that exhibit full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws of any kind present. These coins are also First Day of Issue specimens, meaning that each coin was received by the PCGS for grading within 24 hours of release from the mint.
The San Francisco Mint originally issued BU American Silver Eagle Coins from 1986 to 1998. From 1999 to 2010, the San Francisco Mint did not participate in the coining of BU Silver Eagles. 2011 was the first time it resumed minting the coins, and that supplemental coining has continued at times over the decade since. Please note, 2020 Silver Eagles produced by the San Francisco Mint do not come with an S mint mark. The coins are known to have come from San Francisco by the serial numbers on the boxes the US Mint ships the coins to dealers in.
Obverse designs on 2020 (S) 1 oz Silver Eagle Coins include the vision of Walking Liberty. The depiction of Walking Liberty shown here was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and featured on the US half dollar from 1916 to 1947. In this design, she walks toward the sun on the horizon with the American flag draped around her figure as she extends her right hand while carrying the branches of oak and laurel in her left.
Reverse visuals on the 2020 (S) American Silver Eagle Coins include the heraldic eagle of the United States. The heraldic eagle is set in front-facing relief with the US national shield on its chest, the arrows of war in one talon, and the olive branch of peace in the other.
