The Proof Mexican Silver Libertad coin is one of the lowest mintage collectible silver coins available today. The series debuted in 1983 and has been in regular production since 1986. It wasn’t until 1992 that the Mexican Mint introduced fractional-ounce versions of the proof silver coins for sale. Now that it does have several weights, the Mexican Mint regularly offers the 1 oz coin along with its fractional counterparts in a five-coin set. Now, 2020 Proof Mexican Silver Libertad 5-Coin Sets are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.

The Proof Mexican Silver Libertad coin was available in 1983 and from 1986 to 1991 only as a 1 oz silver specimen. In 1992, the series expanded to feature four fractional-ounce coins in weights of 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz silver. The next expansion of the series wouldn’t occur until 1996 when the 2 oz and 5 oz proof silver coins were made available in the collection.
Winged Victory is featured on the obverse face of all of the coins in the 2020 Proof Mexican Silver Libertad 5-Coin Set. This vision of Winged Victory was modernized in the early 2000s, but is inspired by the gold Centenario coin issued by the Mexican Mint in 1921 with a front-facing relief of the Angel of Independence on the obverse. The mountain peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl are visible in the distant background on this side of the coin.
The Mexican Coat of Arms is shown on the reverse of each 2020 Proof Mexican Silver Libertad in this set, but you will find different designs on the fractional-ounce and 1 oz silver coins. The fractional-ounce coins have the modern coat of arms in the center featuring the Mexican golden eagle battling a serpent on a cactus arm.
For the 1 oz silver coin, this same design element is featured in the center of the design field. However, you will also notice that 10 historical versions of the same seal are featured on this side of the coin around the outer edge of the design field.
These 2020 Proof Mexican Silver Libertad 5-Coin Sets are available to purchase with a presentation display box that houses each of the five coins in its own individual slot.
Founded in 1535, the Mexican Mint is the oldest operating mint in the Western Hemisphere. It is responsible for the production of modern Mexican denominations and operates under the control of Banco de Mexico and the federal government.
