Each of the 2020-P 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins in this product listing comes with a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins in Mint State 70 condition exhibit full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws of any kind present on the design elements or background fields. Included in the slab from the NGC is a First Day of Issue label. This means the coins were received by the NGC within the first 24 hours of release by the United States Mint and arrived inside of sealed boxes.
Though these coins are labeled here as 2020-P 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins, you will not find a mint mark on the specimens. The use of “P” refers to the fact that these American Silver Eagles were produced by the United States Mint at its Philadelphia Mint facility to meet increased demand that was not able to be met by the West Point Mint. As a global pandemic roiled stock markets, demand for more American Silver Eagles combined with decreased staffing and temporary closure of the West Point to pinch supply. To meet demand, the Philadelphia Mint produced an emergency issue totaling an additional 240,000 2020 American Silver Eagles to fill the void.
On the obverse side of the 2020-P 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins is the image of Walking Liberty. Her figure is shown here in left-profile relief as found on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman. Liberty walks toward the sun on the horizon with the American flag draped over her shoulders, branches of oak and laurel in her left hand, and her right hand reaching toward the sunlight.
The reverse face of the 2020-P 1 oz American Silver Eagle includes the heraldic eagle of the United States. The national emblem is featured with a powerful bald eagle, the US national shield, arrows of war, olive branch of peace, and a triangular cluster of 13 stars above the head of the eagle.
