Trade dollars were popular silver coins issued by a number of different countries during the mid- and late-19th century for use in trade with China and the broader Asian region of the world. The idea was to use these trade dollars to better facilitate global trade in an era before globalized economies. Right now, 2020 1 oz Japanese Trade Dollar Silver Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2020 1 oz Japanese Trade Dollar Silver Coin available to you in this product listing comes with a protective plastic flip when you purchase an individual coin or in tubes of 18 if you order in multiples. Each individual silver bullion coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
The Japanese Trade Dollar Silver coin is the fourth release in the Trade Dollar Series for the island territory of St. Helena. The first design in the series featured the iconic British Trade Dollar with a depiction of Britannia and moved on to feature the US Trade Dollar with Seated Liberty and a Chinese Trade dollar with a dragon.
On the obverse of 2020 1 oz Japanese Trade Dollar Silver Coins is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fifth-generation British effigy of Her Majesty and was created in 2015 by Jody Clark. It depicts the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head, a crown worn only for the state opening of Parliament.
The reverse of 2020 Japanese Trade Dollar Silver Coins includes the stylized portrayal of a Japanese dragon. The Japanese Trade Dollar Silver Coin in this listing features a design inspired by the actual trade dollars issued by Imperial Japan. The coins were not minted for very long by Japan.
Its original trade dollar was produced between 1875 and 1877 with a weight of 27.22 grams and a fineness of 90% silver. Oddly enough, the Yen coin of that era actually had a similar weight at 26.96 grams and a nearly identical design to the one used on the trade dollar.
