British Oriental Border Britannia coins debuted in 2018 in both the silver and gold bullion version of the coins. Available only on the 1 oz gold and silver options, the Oriental Border design brings a unique element only to the reverse field around the image of Britannia. The Oriental Border concept is based on the British Trade Dollars issued in the Far East during the second half of the 19^th century. Those British Trade Dollars were primarily minted at Royal Mint locations in India.

This design has been in use on the coins since 1987 and features Britannia with a Corinthian helmet, trident, shield, and olive branch. The border field on this side has an impressive oriental theme. The background of both the obverse and reverse have unique design elements to aid in combatting counterfeiting. This side has radiant lines representing the rays of the sun, while the obverse has a guilloche effect that replicates the look of braided rope.
