Coin Highlights:
The Lunar Series collections from the Perth Mint include designs from Ing Ing Jong. Hired by the Perth Mint in 2011, Ms. Jong began working on the Lunar Series II collection in 2013 and has completed designs in various years since. She now offers designs for the launch of the Lunar Series III program. She has separate designs for the silver bullion and gold bullion coins, with the new platinum bullion option sharing the gold coin design.
Individual coins are offered with protective acrylic capsules, while multiples are available inside of either rolls of 20 or boxes of 100 coins. These 1 oz silver coins have the only mintage cap in the silver bullion series. Just 300,000 of the 1 oz silver coins will be struck.
On the reverse of 2020 1 oz Australian Silver Lunar Mouse Coins is a depiction of two mice climbing on a stalk of corn. There are two ears of corn depicted on this side and the two mice are dining on the corn within the husks.
The obverse of 2020 Australian Silver Lunar Mouse Coins includes Queen Elizabeth II’s latest effigy on Australian coins. This portrait was created by Jody Clark and depicts the Queen wearing the Royal Diadem crown, earrings, and the Victorian coronation necklace.
The Perth Mint is the oldest operating mint facility in Australia. Owned by the government of Western Australia, the mint originally opened in 1899 as part of the Royal Mint of England system on the continent and since 1965 has operated independently of the newly formed Royal Australian Mint.
