The Sumatran tiger is the smallest surviving tiger subspecies. It has a distinctive dark, dense striped coat with a lighter underside and narrow stripes that are closer together than other tiger subspecies. Adults can reach up to 8 feet in length and weigh up to 310 pounds, with males being larger than females. They have powerful jaws and sharp canine teeth designed for tearing apart their prey.
