The obverse face of these 2020 American Gold Eagle Coins includes the historic Liberty image. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, it depicts Liberty in front-facing relief as she walks forward holding a torch out in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand.

The bald eagles are shown around the family nest with a male flying overhead as a female guards the hatchling within the nest.
