Coin Highlights:
1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are offered by the United States Mint each year in the bullion range. Under the terms of the Gold Bullion Act of 1985, the US Mint is required to strike the bullion version of the coin in all four weights to meet demand in every year. When required, the US Mint will suspend the production of the collectible versions to meet the demand for gold blanks to strike the bullion coins.
This has happened twice in the coin’s history. In 2009, the Proof Gold Eagle and Burnished Gold Eagle were both suspended so blanks could be used for bullion coining. In 2010, the Proof Gold Eagle returned while the Burnished Gold Eagle was suspended for one more year.
Lady Liberty’s effigy as designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens is found on the obverse of 2020 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle coins. In this design, Liberty walks in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. There is a circle of 50 stars around her figure and the US Capitol Building is depicted at her feet.
A family of American bald eagles is depicted on the reverse of the 2020 American Gold Eagle coin. You can see in this design that a young hatchling in the nest is guarded under the wing of a female eagle as a male flies over the top of the nest.
These 2020 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you online in near-perfect condition. Coins with a Mint State 69 certification showcase full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be found outside the primary focal points of the coin.
