The Perth Mint’s lunar-themed designs are back for 2020 with an all-new series of bullion coins. The Lunar Series III collection delivers new designs for each of the 12 animals of the Zodiac and also features the first-ever platinum bullion coin in its lunar lineups. Right now, 2020 1/2 oz Australian Gold Lunar Mouse Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2020 1/2 oz Australian Gold Lunar Mouse Coin in this listing is available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed individually within acrylic capsules or in multiples of 20 inside sealed rolls. The Perth Mint has no mintage cap on its fractional coins in the Lunar Series III collection. Each coin weight will be produced to meet demand through the end of 2020.
As the name suggests, the Lunar Series III collection is the third in Perth Mint’s lunar-themed designs series. The first collection ran from 1996 to 2007, while the second ran from 2008 to 2019. The new Lunar Series III collection will run from 2020 to 2031 and feature 12 distinctive designs for each animal in the Zodiac just as its predecessors did. As with the other two collections, the Perth Mint follows the exact cycle of the Zodiac by starting with the Year of the Mouse.
On the reverse of the 2020 1/2 oz Australian Gold Lunar Mouse Coin is the image of a mouse with wheat stalks around it. The mouse uses its front paws to reach up the base of a wheat stalk directly in front of it. This is the latest design from Ing Ing Jong in Perth lunar collections. She has created designs for the series since 2013.
The obverse of 2020 Australian Gold Lunar Mouse Coins includes Jody Clark’s latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is depicted here in right-profile relief in the sixth-generation design of the Queen on Australian coins during her long reign.
