Certified American Gold Eagle coins are available with a protective plastic slab from the PCGS. Coins are assessed for the condition of the luster and strike, as well as the general surface area of the products. Once graded, the coins are assigned a numeric grade from the Sheldon numeric scale and then packaged inside of a sealed plastic slab to protect the condition.
All 2020 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in this product listing earned Mint 69 certification from the PCGS. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws include minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
The First Strike label included in the slab indicates the arrival of the coins for grading. To earn this label, coins must arrive at the PCGS or an approved third-party depository within the first 30 days of the US Mint’s 2020 release date for American Gold Eagles.
Lady Liberty from Augustus Saint-Gaudens is depicted on the obverse of the 2020 American Gold Eagles. It was created in 1907 and used on the $20 Gold Double Eagle coin until 1933. She is featured in front-facing relief with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other hand.
American bald eagles are featured on the reverse of 2020 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in a design from Miley Busiek. This image depicts a family of bald eagles with the male flying over the nest as a female shelters a young hatchling inside of the nest.
American Gold Eagle coins are produced at the West Point Mint in the US Mint system, but do not feature mint marks.
