Since 2008, it has been the lowest minted coin in every year. On the obverse of 2020 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins is an image of Lady Liberty in front-facing profile. This design depicts Liberty with the US Capitol Building at her feet, rays of sunshine behind her back, a torch in her right hand, and an olive branch in her left hand. A circle of 50 stars surrounds her figure.
The reverse of 2020 American Gold Eagle Coins bears the design of American bald eagles. In this imagery, a female eagle and a young hatchling are shown in the nest with a male eagle flying overhead. The weight, purity, metal content, and face value of the coin are inscribed on this side.
