The BU and Proof American Silver Eagles used to be struck at the San Francisco Mint upon the coin’s debut. However, in 1993 the series moved to the Philadelphia Mint and then eventually to the West Point Mint in 2001. However, the San Francisco Mint resumed striking proofs of this coin in 2018 and 2019. Today, 2019-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagles are available to purchase at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
All 2019-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins will be encapsulated within PCGS protective plastic slabs. These coins are PR69 which feature their full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detractions. DCAM are proofs with deep-cameo visual keys, which indicate that the coins have strong, frosted matte design elements.
Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty is proudly displayed on the obverse field of all 2019-S 1 oz Proof Silver Eagles. This iconic design was first commissioned to be featured on the Half-dollar back in 1916. It’s served as the obverse since the Proof American Silver Eagles’ inception. Liberty is shown in left-profile walking towards the sun setting on the horizon. Liberty is donning the American flag with a bundle of oak branches in her left arm.
The reverse field of all 2019-S Proof American Silver Eagles features John Mercanti’s modernization of the heraldic eagle. This eagle is front and center with the national shield displayed on its chest and 13 five-point stars located above its head. Identifying marks of the coin surround this image.
Starting in 2001, the West Point Mint took over the striking of BU and proof coins in this coin program. While they still do to this day, the San Francisco Mint resumed the coining of Silver Eagles in 2011. The 2019 proof of this coin remains among the lowest-minted coins in the history of the series.
