Proof Mexican Gold Libertad coins have had a very shaky production history prior to the 2010s. The coins were first issued in 1983 with a very low mintage of 1 oz gold coins. The next coin was not offered until 1989 and then it was available only as a 1/2 oz gold coin. Another 15 years passed before another offering was made, and this time it was a 1/4 oz gold coin. The 2005 issue was the first to feature a full slate of five Proof Mexican Gold Libertad coins, and in that same year, the mint offered the coins in a five-coin set.
All 2019 Proof Mexican Gold Libertad 5-Coin Sets in this listing come to you with a total of five coins housed in a commemorative display box from the Mexican Mint. Included inside are one each of the 2019 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz Proof Gold Libertads. Each individual coin has a beautiful, frosted design element overlaying a mirrored design field in the background.
The obverse of 2019 Proof Mexican Gold Libertad coins in this set features Winged Victory. Appearing exactly as she is found on the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column, Victory holds a crown wreath in one hand and broken chains in another. Her figure first appeared on Mexican coinage in 1921 with the release of the gold Centenario to mark 100 years of independence from Spanish rule.
On the reverse of 2019 Proof Mexican Gold Libertad coins in this five-coin set include one of two designs. The modern coat of arms is featured on the center of the design field of all five coins, but only the 1 oz coin has a circle of 10 historic versions of the design surrounding that modern emblem.
The Mexican Mint issues the Proof Mexican Gold Libertad 5-Coin Sets with low mintage figures. The highest availability to date was just 500 sets, with the 2005 debut featuring just 200 coin sets and none offered in 2012 as none of the Proof Gold Libertads were struck that year.
