The Mexican Mint has expanded the offerings of the Mexican Silver Libertad Series several times over the course of its history. From new versions of the coin to additional weights, the mint is always looking to innovate in this collection. One of the more recent introductions is a reverse proof version of the Silver Libertad. Coin Highlights:
In 2015, the Mexican Mint introduced the Reverse Proof Silver Libertad. For the first two years, the coins were only available in the 1 oz silver weight. Starting in 2017, the mint offered the reverse proof coin in 2 oz and 5 oz silver options. As of 2021, all three of these weights are still available in the reverse proof series.
All of these 2019 5 oz Reverse Proof Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are offered with protective capsules for delivery. The coins in the reverse proof series had a limited mintage of only 1,000 coins in the 5 oz weight in 2019. Reverse-proof coins have mirrored design elements overlaying frosted background fields.
The obverse side of these 2019 Reverse Proof Mexican Silver Libertad Coins comes with an image of the Mexican coat of arms. In fact, there is not just one version of the seal, but 11 in total. At the center of the field is the modern version of the coat of arms. It depicts a powerful eagle on a prickly pear cactus with its beak and talons controlling a serpent. This is surrounded by the nation of issue and an oak-and-laurel wreath. Around the border, 10 historic versions of the national seal.
On the reverse face of 2019 5 oz Reverse Proof Silver Libertad Coins, you will find the statue of Winged Victory. Sculpted in 1910, this bronze statue stands at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column in the center of Mexico City. The design shows Victory in a three-quarter-profile relief with a laurel wreath in her right hand and a set of broken chains in her left hand.
