The 5 oz Proof Mexican Silver Libertad coin debuted in 1996 with 1,200 coins issued. The mintage increased in 1993 but declined for the following four years. The highest mintage figure for the 5 oz Proof Silver Libertad is 5,000 coins and was achieved twice. The first time came in 2009 when both the 2 oz and 5 oz coins surged.
