In cultural uses, Do ggae bi’s grotesque appearance was said to possess the power to ward off evil and it would often be hung from the roofing tiles of homes as a means of keeping the occupants safe. This female guardian stands at the edges of the Salt Lake, the place where the mortal world and the immortal world connect. It is her job to watch for danger and she uses her special ability to detect danger over great distances to keep an eye out for trouble.
