Coin Highlights:
Each 2019 1 oz Samoa Seahorse Silver Coin in this product listing comes to you inside of a protective plastic capsule or a skinboard of five coins. The coins are all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from Scottsdale Mint. This is the second release of the Samoa Seahorse Silver coins from the mint.
The seahorse is a small marine fish that consists of 45 distinctive species of creatures. The name of the seahorse in Ancient Greek is Hippocampus and ironically translates from the Greek as hippos meaning “horse” and kampos meaning “sea monster.” It’s an odd translation given the diminutive size of most seahorse species.
On the obverse of 2019 1 oz Samoa Seahorse Silver Coins is a depiction of a large seahorse in the center of the design in right-profile relief. The seahorse is surrounded by various design elements that include Polynesian tribal waves at the bottom and a subtle seagrass design along the top rocker of the design field.
The reverse face of 2019 Samoa Seahorse Silver Coins bears the coat of arms for Samoa. The shield in the crest has the Southern Cross constellation on an assure field with the Samoan motto “Fa’avae I le Atua Samoa,” which translates as “Samoa is founded on God.” Above the shield is a Christian cross, while the top half of the shield has waves and a singular palm tree. The outer design field has a beaded border all around the coin.
Samoa Seahorse Silver Coins come from the Scottsdale Mint. A private mint in the state of Arizona in the United States, the Scottsdale Mint produces a wide range of silver bullion for nations in the Caribbean and the South Pacific, such as Fiji and Samoa.
