The 2019 Year of the Pig coin design comes to life in this Colorized Australian Silver Pig release. Layers of colorized lacquer have been added to the reverse design elements focusing on the mother pig and her four piglets. The colorization is most visible on the mother, which has shades of white and pink on the underbelly and black fur patches on various parts of the body and head. The little piglets all have similar colorization.
On the reverse of 2019 1 oz Colorized Australian Silver Pig Coins is the image of the mother pig with her four little piglets. The piglets are clustered around her feet and she stands in left-profile relief. The design field includes engravings of “Year of the Pig,” the Chinese symbol for pig, and the “P” mint mark of the Perth Mint.
The obverse of 2019 Colorized Australian Silver Pig Coins features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. While other 2019 coins from the mint are transitioning the new Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty, the Lunar Series II coins continue with the use of the fourth-generation design from Ian Rank-Broadley. This right-profile portrait was created in 1998 for the Royal Mint of England.
