The Canadian Silver Predator Series debuted from the Royal Canadian Mint in 2016 with the Cougar design. The grizzly is an apex predator with no known foes in the wild except for when it is young and small. The grizzly is North America’s second-largest wild carnivore behind the 1,500-pound polar bear.

The coins in this release are housed individually inside of protective flips, mint tubes of 25, or Monster Boxes of 500 coins. As with the three previous designs in this series, Canadian artist Emily Damstra developed the design for this release.

On the reverse side of 2019 Canadian Silver Grizzly Predator Series Coins is the overpowering image of a grizzly as it charges at its prey. The grizzly is a massive animal that often strikes an imposing figure by standing on its hind legs to showcase its brute strength and size in an effort to ward off intruders. The grizzly is also very mobile for an animal of its size and that mobility is showcased in this shocking design.

Emily Damstra developed the design of the grizzly bear for this Canadian Silver Predator Series release. Her “ED” initials are featured on the reverse design field. Damstra has contributed to a number of impressive collections for the RCM, including the final two designs of the Canadian Wildlife Series and all releases in the Birds of Prey Series.

The obverse side of the 2019 1 oz Silver Canadian Grizzly Predator Series Coin includes the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation Canadian portrait of Her Majesty and was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt.
