Scottsdale Mint introduced the Barbados Trident bullion coins in 2017 with 1 oz silver and 1 oz gold bullion coins to choose from when investing. The coins, like the Canadian Maple Leaf and American Eagle, feature the same obverse and reverse designs each year. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t subtle changes that separate some of the date marks. These 2019 coins return to a background design element last used on the 2017 debut coins.
All 2019 1 oz Barbados Trident Silver Coins are available to you here today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from the Scottsdale Mint. The coins are individually housed inside of protective plastic capsules. The background field on the reverse side features waving lines similar to the waves of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea that surround Barbados. The 2017 coin used this same background element, but the 2018 coin had a hammered, or stippled, background element instead.
On the reverse of 2019 Barbados Trident Silver Coins is the image of the trident head as it is depicted on the national flag. The trident here is broken, not whole, and represents the 1966 break between Barbados and its former colonial masters in Great Britain. The trident was, in mythology, a powerful tool for controlling the lakes, seas, and oceans of the world.
The obverse of 2019 1 oz Barbados Trident Silver Coins includes the coat of arms for Barbados. There are a number of intricate design elements on this side of the coin, starting with the shield that features the images of the Pride of Barbados in the upper corners and a bearded fig tree in the center. The Pride of Barbados is the national flower. The shield is crowned with a helmet, supported on either side by a pelican and dolphin fish, and capped at the top with a hand raising up a pair of sugar cane stalks.
