Australia is home to some of the greatest natural deposits of silver and gold that have been found in human history. A new commemorative gold and silver bullion release from Western Australia’s Perth Mint celebrates more than 100 years of production at the iconic Super Pit mine in Australia. Right now, 2019 1 oz Australian Silver Super Pit Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2019 1 oz Australian Silver Super Pit Coin in this product listing is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins available in this release are housed in either a clear tube of 25 coins or a Monster Box of 250 coins that features 10 separate tubes. The reverse side of the Silver Super Pit coins has a unique authentication feature.
Detectable only under a magnifying glass, the 2019 Australian Silver Super Pit coin has a small letter micro-laser engraved within the inscription of “Australia” on the reverse side of the coin. The purpose of the authentication feature is to make it even more difficult to create counterfeit Perth Mint products.
On the reverse side of the 2019 1 oz Australian Silver Super Pit Coin is an artistic rendition of the Super Pit. It was created for this release by Lucas Bowers and offers a glimpse of the massive open pit at the so-called Super Pit.
Located near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, the Super Pit is the colloquial name for what is really the Fimiston Open Pit. This mint was first opened in 1893 and originally consisted of a series of underground tunnel mines. Once the largest open cut gold mine in Australia, it was surpassed in 2016 by the Newmont Boddington gold mine.
The obverse of 2019 1 oz Australian Silver Super Pit Coins features the latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II to feature on Australian coins. This design is the sixth used in Australia during Her Majesty’s reign and is Jody Clark’s twist on the Royal Mint of England design. Unlike the latter, this portrait includes the Queen’s neckline and shoulders, a feature not included on Australian coins since 1966.
