The Australian Silver Kookaburra coin is the longest-running silver coin from the Perth Mint of Australia. Launched in 1990, the coin is well known for using a new design of the kingfisher species known as the Kookaburra on the reverse each year. Several changes have come to the series in recent years aside from the reverse design, and this year brings another. Right now, the 2019 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin is available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each of the 2019 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins in this product listing comes to you in protective packaging. The coins are available individually inside of protective capsules or in bulk orders that include sealed rolls of 20 coins or boxes with 100 coins housed in five separate rolls.
The 2019 Australian Silver Kookaburra brings the 30th different design to this long-running series. While investors are familiar with the ever-changing image of the kookaburra on the reverse, two big changes have occurred in recent years that are not common. Starting last year with the 2018 release, Silver Kookaburras now feature .9999 pure silver content.
On the obverse of the 2019 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra coin is another big recent change. A new sixth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is found on the coin’s obverse. Based on the same design Jody Clark delivered for Royal Mint coins in England in 2016, this is the sixth image of Her Majesty on Australian coins and the first since 1966 to feature the Queen’s shoulders and neckline as well.
The reverse of 2019 Australian Silver Kookaburra coins features a new image of the kingfisher’s largest member. This bird is depicted on the b ranch of a sunken tree as the sunsets across the water and you can see the reflected rays of the sun rippling across the water.
The Perth Mint offers the Australian Silver Kookaburra annually. Located in Western Australia, the former Royal Mint facility is now owned and directed by the government of Western Australia.
