The Perth Mint launched the Birds of Paradise coin series in 2018 with Victoria’s riflebird. The greater Birds of Paradise family of creatures is found in eastern Indonesia, eastern Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Following the release of the Victoria’s riflebird, the Manucodia joins the series as the 2019 bird. Right now, 2019 1 oz Australian Gold Bird of Paradise Manucodia Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.

Most Manucode birds are found in the lowland forests of New Guinea, with some subspecies found on smaller nearby islands as well.
The obverse of 2019 Australian Gold Bird of Paradise Manucodia Coins features the latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II for Australian coins. This sixth-generation Australian design was created by Jody Clark, the same man whose fifth-generation British design debuted on Royal Mint of England coins in 2016. This is the first image of the Queen since 1966 to include her neckline and shoulders in the portrait.
