Each of the 2019 1 oz Australian Anniversary of the Moon Landing Silver Coins in this product listing is available to you inside of its own protective plastic capsule. Between July 1969 and 1972, NASA’s Apollo program of space missions sent a total of 12 humans to the surface of the moon. The first men to ever set foot on the moon were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. The duo descended from the command module in the Eagle lunar lander and touched down on the surface of the moon on July 20th, 1969.
On the reverse side of 2019 1 oz Australian Anniversary of the Moon Landing Silver Coins is a depiction of the lunar lander resting on the surface of the moon. The only disruption to the flowing, dusty surface of the moon in the design is the footprint from one of the flight suits worn by Aldrin and Armstrong during their walk on the moon.
The obverse of 2019 Australian Anniversary of the Moon Landing Silver Coins includes the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. In this sixth-generation effigy of Queen, widely appearing in 2019 date marked Australian coins, Her Majesty’s neckline and shoulders are included in the portrait for the first time since the 1960s. The design is based on Jody Clark’s fifth-generation design for British coins.
All of the coins in this listing come from the Perth Mint, Australia’s oldest operating mint. The mint is located in Perth, Western Australia, and is owned by the state government.
