For 40 days and 40 nights, God sent catastrophic rains to flood the Earth and cleanse it of the sins of mankind. Noah’s family along with two of every kind of animal floated on the ark for the duration awaiting the moment when the rain would stop and the waters recede.
The reverse field captures this moment as the ark lumbers along the water’s surface. The sun rises over Mount Ararat in the background as a dove returns to the ship with an olive branch in its beak, a sign to Noah that dry land was available.
For the obverse of 2019 Armenian Silver Noah’s Ark Coins, the Armenian coat of arms is featured. The seal includes the national heraldic shield with an eagle and lion behind it. The coin’s face value, year of issue, weight, metal content, and purity are all engraved on this face.
