The American Palladium Eagle coin made its much-anticipated debut in 2017 as a bullion coin, with these 2018 Proof American Palladium Eagle coins marking the first-ever issue of the coin in a proof collectible version. The original Proof American Palladium Eagle coins have a limited mintage figure of just 15,000 coins, meaning the number of perfect specimens within that mintage is bound to be very low.

American Palladium Eagle coins have two historic coin designs on the obverse and reverse faces. The obverse brings to life once again the famed Mercury Dime design created by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916 for the US dime. The reverse brings an even older design back with the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal that Weinman also created.

On the obverse face of 2018-W 1 oz Proof American Palladium Eagle Coins, you’ll find the image of Lady Liberty. Captured in left-profile portrait with a winged cap, she was officially known as Winged Liberty for the design. However, the coin was commonly referred to as the Mercury Dime because of Liberty’s resemblance to the Roman messenger god Mercury.

The reverse side of 2018 Proof American Palladium Eagles bears the American bald eagle. This design depicts an eagle as it sits perched on the edge of a rock cliff clutching a branch in its talons. The eagle has its head down and wings spread out back behind its figure.

These 2018-W 1 oz Proof American Palladium Eagles earned the PF70 certification from the NGC. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws. The Early Release label means the coins were received for certification within the first 30 days of their 2018 release date from the United States Mint.
