Cumberland Island National Seashore preserves large stretches of Cumberland Island in southern Georgia’s Camden County. The island is the largest of Georgia’s Golden Isles and is home to beaches, dunes, marshes, and freshwater lakes. Critically, the area protects 23 distinct ecological communities and offers feeding grounds and safe stopping points for migratory waterfowl.

On the reverse of the 2018 5 oz Colorized ATB Cumberland Island National Seashore Silver Coin is the image of a snowy egret. The large waterfowl is colored in with white as it stands on a brown branch with its wings spread out wide. The blue waters of the Cumberland Island area spread off into the distance behind it with green marsh grasses featured throughout.

The obverse of 2018 ATB Cumberland Island National Seashore Silver Coins features the left-profile portrait of President George Washington. Featured on the US circulation quarter since 1932, Washington’s bust here was designed by John Flanagan using a 1786 sculpting of Washington as inspiration.
