Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is stated along 73,236 acres of land on the Lake Superior shoreline of the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. It extends for 42 miles along the coast line and derives its name from a collection of colorful sandstone cliffs northeast of Munising that span a 15-mile stretch of the shore.
The America the Beautiful collection is a 56-coin series that launched in 2010 with five new releases scheduled each year through 2021. The program will represent parks, forests, and monuments from all 50 states, the five overseas territories of the US, and the District of Columbia.
On the reverse of the 2018 5 oz ATB Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Silver Coin is the image of the landscape from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan, along with engravings of the state of issue, representative park, and year of issue for the coin.
The obverse of all ATB Silver Coins includes the left-profile portrait of President George Washington. The first elected leader of the United States of America, Washington has appeared on the circulation quarter since 1932, the bicentennial year of his birth. It is the longest running coin design in US history.
All ATB Silver Coins are produced by the US Mint at the Philadelphia Mint and Denver Mint facilities, with uncirculated and proof versions of the coin available for purchase.
