The 10 oz South Korean Silver Tiger Medal is unique in its use of a distinct design that is different from 1 oz design used in the same issue year.

On the obverse of the 2018 10 oz South Korean Tiger Medal is the image of a Korean tiger as it crouches down at the edge of the water and is surrounded by lush vegetation. The Korean tiger isn’t a recognized species, but rather, represents the national symbol of South Korea. The tigers that once inhabited the Korean peninsula were actually Siberian tigers.
Historically, the Siberian tiger is known as the largest tiger in the world. The Siberian tiger is now limited in range to the Russian Far East and portions of Northeast China. The last tigers spotted in South Korea were seen in 1922 and it is believed that some may exist in the far northeast of Korean peninsula today it what is North Korea today.
The reverse of 2018 10 oz South Korean Tiger Silver Medals features a stylized image of the Korean peninsula as a whole. The letters of the Korean alphabet make up the shape of the Korean peninsula and there are two markings to either side of the design. One is a security image with “Ag” in the circle and the national symbol of South Korea on the other side.
