Carl Banks was the man behind the design and concept of Scrooge McDuck. In fitting with his grumpy Scottish character and vast wealth, Scrooge McDuck was named after Ebenezer Scrooge from the 1843 novel A Christmas Carol. How fitting it was for Scrooge McDuck to make his debut at little more than a century after his namesake!

He is featured in hits iconic top hat with glasses and robe as he boasts a giant bag of money held in his left hand. The background field has a sunburst design element to it and the weight, purity, and metal content are engraved along with a Disney copyright.

The obverse of the Niue Disney Scrooge McDuck Silver Coins features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation portrait of Her Majesty designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley for original use on Royal Mint coins in Britain.
