The Mexican Silver Libertad Coins debuted as the first and only option in the collection starting in 1982, making these coins the oldest silver bullion coin collection available today. It predates other popular coins such as the Silver Panda, Silver Maple Leaf, and Silver Eagle. The initial release had a mintage of 1.049 million coins.
In the three decades that have passed, the 1 oz Silver Libertad remains far-and-away the most minted coin in the series. The highest mintage years came in 1992 at 2.458 million and 1985 at 2.017 million coins, with the lowest years coming in the late 1990s when just 67,000 coins and 95,000 coins were struck in 1998 and 1999 respectively.
