The images of Winged Victory and the national coat of arms dominate the design elements of the Mexican Silver Libertad coin. Introduced in 1982, the Silver Libertad coin design is actually based upon the historic gold Centenario coin first issued to commemorate 100 years of national freedom in 1921. Today, 2018 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion in perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
The Mexican Mint is responsible for the coining of the Mexican Silver Libertad coins. Issued in 1982, the Silver Libertad coin is based upon the gold Centenario. The Centenario coins were gold pesos issued by the Mexican Mint in 1921 to celebrate 100 years of independence and brought the image of Winged Victory to national coinage as a reminder of one of the country’s greatest symbols from its revolutionary war.
All 2018 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad coins in this listing are available in perfect condition from the NGC. Coins with a Mint State 70 certification feature full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws of any kind. The Early Release label included within the slabs indicate the coins were received for certification by the NGC within the first 30 days of their 2018 release date set by the Mexican Mint.
On the obverse of all Mexican Silver Libertad coins you’ll find the image of Winged Victory. Based upon the goddess of Victory, the image of Winged Victory was altered for use in Mexico to feature a wreath in her right hand as a symbol of independent governance while clutching the broken chains of servitude in her left.
The reverse of 2018 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad coins bears the official coat of arms for Mexico. An eagle perched on a cactus arm with a serpent locked in its grip as the duo battle is surrounded by a wreath below and the national name “Estados Unidos Mexicanos” at the top. Around the outer edge are 10 historic versions of the national seal used since 1821. Only the 1 oz coins and larger in the Silver Libertad series have the historic versions of the seal.
