The 1 Kilo gold coin features the familiar design of a singular kangaroo with sunburst rays in the background field. This design is also found on the Silver Kangaroo series. The 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz Gold Kangaroos feature a new design for the year though.
On the reverse of all 2018 1/2 oz Australian Gold Kangaroo Coins you’ll find the new design for this release year. It depicts two red kangaroos hopping across the coin’s surface in a setting that reflects the rural Outback regions of Australia. Engravings around this side of the coin include the series name, weight, purity, and metal content, as well as the year of issue.
The obverse of all Australian Gold Kangaroo Coins features the Queen’s effigy. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II appears on all Australian coinage, with this design representing the fourth-generation image of the Queen since her ascension to the throne of England. It was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley.
Australian Gold Kangaroo coins in the fractional-weight range have limited mintage figures. These 1/2 oz gold coins have the lowest mintage figure at 100,000 coins, while the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins have mintage maximums of 150,000 and 200,000, respectively.
