The highest ever mintage figure for the oz Gold Eagle came during its inaugural release in 1986 when a total of 599,566 coins in this weight were sold by the US Mint. The demand dropped sharply the following year to just 131,255 coins. In the years to come, the oz gold bullion coin would only cross the 100,000 coin threshold in mintage three times.
American Gold Eagle oz coins wouldnt cross 100,000 again until 1998 when 169,029 coins were produced. The second highest all-time mintage figure for the coins came in 1999 when 263,013 were struck. The third time the coins would cross 100,000 came in 2009 in the midst of the Great Recession when 110,000 coins were struck and sold.
All 2018 oz American Gold Eagle coins listed here are in BU condition. Coins in BU condition have no signs of wear and tear, but there is the potential for production flaws as part of the process at the mint. These flaws range from breaks in the luster and spotted surfaces to contact marks.

Visible at her feet is the US Capitol Building, and her free figure wears no crown and has hair that flows with the wind. She holds her torch high in her right hand with an olive branch of peace in her left.
