The 1/10 oz Gold Eagle is perhaps the most popular coin in the American Gold Eagle Series. Each one combines the coveted design of Augustus Saint-Gaudens on the obverse with actual gold content backed by the federal government. Best of all, the smaller weight makes the 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle the most affordable in the series. Today, 2018 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion in perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
The introduction of the American Gold Eagle coin in 1986 meant the return of the so-called “crown gold” alloy to American coins. In 1834, US coins had their gold content dropped from 22-karat (crown gold) to .900, which was in full effect by 1837. From that point until 1933 when circulation gold coins were no longer struck in the US, no American gold coin featured a content above .900. The American Gold Eagle’s 22-karat gold content changed that.
In this listing you’ll receive a 2018 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coin in perfect condition. The PCGS certifies a coin Mint State 70 when it features full, original mint luster and bears no detracting flaws of any kind. The addition of the First Strike label indicates the coins were received by the PCGS for certification within 30 days of the 2018 release date set by the United States Mint.
On the obverse of 2018 American Gold Eagle coins is Lady Liberty. In this design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Liberty strides forward from Washington DC with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. She serves as a guiding force for the nation. This design originated in 1907 from Saint-Gaudens and appeared on the $20 Gold Double Eagle.
The reverse of 2018 1/10 oz American Gold Eagles features a design exclusive to this series. Created by Miley Busiek in 1986, you’ll notice a male bald eagle returning to the nest with an olive branch in its talons as a female bald eagle guards the hatchling below.
