Last year marked the end of the Presidential Dollar Coin program, thus the 2017 US Mint Proof Set includes only 10 coins. Sales of the Sets dropped off a bit more, down to 568,681 sets. The Sets still contain the same high-quality US Mint Proof Set coins with frosted, sculpted foregrounds and sharp relief, mirror-like backgrounds. The Sets remain a great way for people to either start their coin collections or to add to their existing ones. The US Mint in San Francisco minted this set. JM Bullion currently has these 2017 US Mint Proof Sets available for purchase online.

Each 2017 Proof Set contains 2 sets of coins – the America the Beautiful Quarters Program set and the regular Proof coin set.
The 5 quarters from the America the Beautiful Quarters Program set included in this year’s Proof Set feature the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park in Indiana, the Effigy Mounds National Monument in Iowa, the Ozark National Scenic Riverways in Missouri, Ellis Island in New Jersey, and the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site in Washington DC.
The regular Proof Set coins include one each of the 2017 Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, and Kennedy Half Dollar. Packaged with these coins is the latest issue of the Native American Dollar series. The Native American Dollar obverse design remains Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste. The reverse design features a profile of Sequoyah, the inventor of the Cherokee Syllabary. This language ultimately paved the way for a dialogue between the Cherokee Nation and the United States Government.
The 10 coins in the set are struck in Proof format with sharp relief and mirror-like backgrounds. The sculpted foregrounds provide them with a special cameo effect. They are minted in the San Francisco Mint and have an S mint mark. The face value of the set is $2.91 and the original issue price was $26.95.
The packaging of the 2017 Proof Sets remains similar to the packaging of previous years. The coins are packaged in 2 individual plastic cases and placed into a cardboard outer box. The front of the box has an image of the Washington Monument at sunset, while the back of the box has images of the 5 national parks and the 5 coins included in the set.
