Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins are the official silver bullion coins of Canada, and are part of the larger Maple Leaf collection that includes a gold, platinum, and palladium offering. These coins all have the same obverse and reverse design features and never have changes made to either side, with the exception of updates to Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy on the reverse.
The reverse of the 2017 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coin includes a 24-karat gold gilded finish. This application is featured only on the image of the sugar maple leaf. A symbol of the Canadian nation for more than 150 years, the maple leaf is depicted with intricate detail and surrounded by engravings of the nation of issue, weight, purity, and metal content, as well as new security features including micro-laser engraved radial lines and a maple leaf privy.
On the obverse of the 2017 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coin you’ll find Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy. Her Majesty is still the ceremonial sovereign of the nation, and her effigy appears on all Canadian coinage. This particular right-profile portrait comes from Susanna Blunt, and was created in 2003 for use on Canadian currency. No gilded finishes have been applied to this side.
The Royal Canadian Mint was founded in 1908 in Ottawa, the federal capital city, to provide the nation with independent coining capacity. Today it includes a secondary facility in Winnipeg, opened in 1980.

“This is my seventh gilded coin from JM Bullion, and like the other six, is outstanding! The Maple Leaf is one of my favorites, not only for its’ beauty, but also because it is .9999% silver. Definitely well worth the money! Thank you, JM Bullion for offering these coins to the public!”
