In Korean lore, the Twelve Guardians have been assigned by god to protect the twelve directions. When the world faces off with evil forces, the demons come from all twelve directions at the same time. As god sets about wiping away the demons, his Zi:Sin commanders lead his armies into battle.
Each of the Twelve Guardians are featured in human form, but they are in truth creatures of a mythical being that wear helmets and carry weapons which are their own. Each one has unique capabilities that enable them to successfully lead god’s armies as a commander.
The 2017 1 oz South Korean Zi:Sin Gallus Gold Medal in this listing is in BU condition. Products in this condition show no signs of wear and tear, but minor production flaws are a possibility. These include potential breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks.
On the reverse of the Zi:Sin Gallus Gold Medal you’ll find the image of the commander Gallus. On the spectrum of directions, he looks to the west as he watches for evil forces. Gallus wears full military battle regalia with a long spear and a tall, pointed helmet that gives him the power to foresee upcoming events. He has control over bright lights as the messenger of light and can use that power to disperse the forces of evil.
The obverse of the 2017 1 oz South Korean Zi:Sin Gallus Gold Medal includes the battle shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang. On his famous shield is the face or head of Do ggae bi, a mythical being that Koreans viewed as a ghost or monster. The image of Do ggae bi was often affixed to the ends of roof tiles on homes to scare away evil spirits.
