Each 2017 1 oz Niue Czech Lion Silver Coin is available to you in BU condition. Coins in BU condition exhibit no signs of wear and tear, but there is the potential for minor flaws stemming from the coining process. These flaws range from breaks in the luster and spotted surfaces to contact marks.
The Niue Czech Lion Silver Coin is more than just the first-ever silver bullion coin from the Czech Mint, it is the first in a planned series of coins from the mint known as Czech Nationhood. The coins will feature reverse designs reflective of the art and symbolism of the Czech people and nation.
On the obverse of the 2017 1 oz Niue Czech Lion Silver Coin you’ll find the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the commonly used design for Niue issue coins, reflecting the fourth-generation portrait created for commonwealth coinage by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. Included on this side in this release you’ll find the Czech linden branch as a decorative addition to the design field.
The reverse of Niue Czech Lion Silver Coin features the image of a two-tailed Czech Lion. This heraldic beast of the Czech nation is said to guard the crown of Saint Wenceslas, as well as a shield that features the patron emblem of the nation, a burning eagle.
The Czech Mint is one of the younger national mints around, having opened its doors only recently in 1993. It is responsible for the production of Czech circulation coinage as well as commemorative coins and medals, with the Czech Lion marking the first silver bullion coinage from the facility. It was established under the authorization of the Czech National Bank.
