Monarch Precious Metals has made a name for itself to date by producing some of the finest hand-poured and hand-stamped silver bullion products. Among its popular options are a growing lineup of silver rounds. Monarch has traditionally focused on design themes revolving around pirates and even Egyptian relics.
Today there is a new design concept rolling out from Monarch that focuses on the macabre. The image of the Grim Reaper is coming to a brilliant new silver round offering that is a limited-edition offering from the private American refinery.
On the obverse of each 2017 1 oz Monarch Grim Reaper Silver round you’ll find the traditional manifestation of the Grim Reaper emerging from behind a tight cluster of four different headstones. The reaper is featured with his scythe in his right hand and his skeleton figure emerging from the hood of his robe.
In the background field of the design you’ll find a moon rising behind the Grim Reaper’s left shoulder with bats flying and a leaf-less tree over his right shoulder. There are a collection of four headstones in front of the reaper, each with the popular shorthand of “RIP” engraved. At the bottom of the design field are the Roman numerals “MMXVII,” which translates to 2017 for the year of issue.
The Grim Reaper is viewed by some as quickly literally causing an individual’s death by coming to collect them for the trip to the afterlife. There are those, however, who believe that the Grim Reaper comes only to sever the remaining ties between a soul and body to guide the deceased to the afterlife. In this instance, there is no control over when or how people die.
On the reverse of each Grim Reaper Silver Round there is an engraving of the silver round’s weight, purity, and metal content.
Monarch Precious Metals is a private refinery opened in the Rogue Valley of southeastern Oregon in 2008. The vast majority of its gold and silver products are hand-poured and hand-stamped for unique appearances.
