The Burnished coin is a third option and second choice for numismatists, with its own visual brilliance. Right now, 2017-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coins are available at JM Bullion.

Each 2017-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coin offered here comes with a plastic capsule. The coin is housed in a presentation box and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint. Burnished coins start as gold blanks that are tumbled in a drum with a burnishing medium to create the unique finish of the coins. The blanks are loaded into the coin press and struck once with the die to complete the finished coin.
Burnished American Gold Eagles debuted in 2006, at which point the US Mint offered the coins in 1 oz gold, 1/2 oz gold, 1/4 oz gold, and 1/10 oz gold. Following a two-year hiatus in 2009-2010, the series returned in 2011 with only the 1 oz gold coin offered. The 2017 Burnished Gold Eagle has the second lowest mintage in program history, as of 2023, behind the 2023 issue of the coins.
For the obverse of 2017-W Burnished American Gold Eagles, the United States Mint features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ 1907 depiction of Lady Liberty. This effigy shows the full-length effigy of Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The background features the U.S. Capitol Building, rays of sunshine, and a ring of stars.
In the reverse design of 2017-W 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagle Coins, the mint features a design from Miley Busiek. Created in 1986 exclusively for this coin series, the image depicts a male eagle soaring above a nest with a female eagle and hatchling inside.
